Phil Harwood
"Hi. I've taken a strange winding road since graduating from EL High (to quote Mr. Nick Morey, the place we all got our "real education"). I did the college thing at Northeastern and studied radio and tv production, hoping to do something as cool, fun, and pure as Elastic Limits for a job. Instead I joined a punk band, toured a lot, and just got bummed on the increasingly corporate nature of radio and television. Funny how things turn out, eh?
To bring you all up to speed, I make a living riding a bicycle a few days a week and playing music the rest. I played in the band Bones Brigade for a few years, put out some records, played a lot of shows and got to see a lot of highways, rest stops, dingy bars and clubs all over the USA, America junior (that’s Canada) and Europe. Most of its not worth seeing, but occasionally there's something cool out there. The worst place I've ever been is a toss up between the entire country of Germany and sleeping in a van in Oakland, California clutching a baseball bat as crack heads walked the streets all night, stepping on the yoke that connected our van to our trailer and waking me up with terrifying jolts. The best place I've been is probably Iceland. It's legal to walk out of a bar holding your glass, finish your beer in the street, then smash it on the ground. And the girls are hot and the hot springs are hotter. Currently I play bass for a band called "Coctopus" and play the mandolin in my bedroom. If your so inclined there are some songs and shit at www.myspace.com/coctospace. I enjoy the finer things in life like swimming, skateboarding, listening to records on my grandparents hand me down turntable, writing postcards and fireworks. I'd like to thank Mr. Prunty for teaching me the values and dangers of these fine toys. I live in Chinatown, so on Chinese New Year its basically legal to shoot them out the window all day long.
And since I’m supposed to be talking about the show and my favorite clips
I'll end this tangent now and get back on track."
